낡고 초라한 세상의 길 하나가 끝나고
강물 위에 길을 놓는 저 착한 시간을 바라보네.
푸른 옷자락을 여미는 강이 내 마음을 읽고
하늘과 땅의 경계를 지우며 흘러가네.
바람이 세상의 상처를 핥아 주는 동안
사랑은 깊은 가슴에 길을 내며
희디흰 밥알 같은 눈으로 내리고 있네.
동강에서 깃털처럼 가벼워진 내가
깊은 강물이 되어 흐른다네.
영혼의 거처를 찾아 겨울 철새들이
강 위를 날아올라 저녁 하늘로 사라지네.
나는 삶에 묻은 때를 씻어내며
마음 놓고 기침을 해본다네.

The blue-cloaked river reads my heart,
erasing the line
between earth and sky.

falling like white grains of rice.
At Donggang,
I grow light as a feather—
and flow as deep water.
Winter birds rise,
seeking the soul’s dwelling,
disappearing into the dusk.
I wash the dust of life away,
and, at last,
let myself cough freely.
