기능성 스킨케어 전문기업 천약선(브랜드 우이무이)이 특허 기반 연구개발과 발명 기술의 산업화 성과를 인정받아 대한변리사협회 창립 80주년 기념식에서 표창을 수상했다. 이번 수상은 독창적인 발명 기술을 지식재산(IP)으로 권리화하고 이를 시장성 있는 기능성 제품으로 상용화한 성과를 공식적으로 인정받았다는 점에서 의미가 크다.

천약선은 지난 10여 년간 천연물과 한방 소재를 활용한 기능성 원료 및 화장품 기술 개발에 집중해 왔다. 특히 최근 5년간 치약, 하이드로겔 콜라겐 패치, 미백 및 주름 개선 기능성 화장품 등 다양한 분야에서 특허를 지속적으로 확보하며 연구개발(R&D), 특허 권리화, 제품 상용화로 이어지는 지식재산 중심의 기술경영 체계를 구축했다.
이번 표창은 단순히 특허를 많이 확보한 데 의미가 있는 것이 아니라, 연구개발을 통해 확보한 발명 기술을 실제 소비자가 사용하는 제품으로 구현하고 시장 경쟁력을 확보한 점이 높게 평가된 결과다. 특히 기능성 소재 개발부터 제형 설계, 품질 안정성 확보, 제품 디자인, 양산 기술까지 전 과정을 자체 기술력으로 고도화하며 국내 화장품 산업의 기술 경쟁력 향상에 기여했다는 평가를 받았다.
천약선의 대표 브랜드 우이무이 하이드로겔 마스크팩과 미백·주름 개선 기능성 화장품은 이러한 연구개발 성과를 대표하는 제품이다. 제품에는 자체 개발한 특허 기술과 기능성 소재가 적용됐으며, 원료 배합 기술, 피부 밀착력, 제형 안정성, 사용감, 디자인 완성도 등을 종합적으로 고려해 개발됐다. 발명 기술이 실제 제품의 품질 경쟁력으로 이어진 대표 사례라는 평가를 받고 있다.

또한 KIWIE 참가를 발판으로 기술 검증과 해외 네트워크를 강화해 2027년부터 동남아시아와 유럽 시장 진출을 본격 추진할 방침이다. 해외 시장에서도 특허 기반 기능성 화장품 기업으로서 경쟁력을 확보하고 K-뷰티 기술의 글로벌 확산에 기여한다는 전략이다.
천약선 관계자는 "10여 년 동안 꾸준히 이어온 연구개발과 특허 확보 노력이 이번 표창을 통해 공식적으로 인정받게 돼 매우 뜻깊다"며 "앞으로도 천연물 기반의 독창적인 발명 기술을 지속적으로 고도화하고, 이를 세계 시장에서도 경쟁력을 인정받는 고품질 기능성 제품으로 구현해 글로벌 K-뷰티 기술기업으로 성장해 나가겠다"고 말했다.

This award is significant in that it was officially recognized for its achievements in making original invention technology rights as intellectual property (IP) and commercializing it as a marketable functional product.
The 80th anniversary ceremony of the foundation of the Korean Patent Association is designed to shed light on the development achievements of the Korean intellectual property system and to discuss the future direction of the intellectual property ecosystem to cope with global technological competition and artificial intelligence (AI) era. The award was given to companies and officials who contributed to strengthening the national industrial competitiveness through the spread of the value of intellectual property and technological innovation.
For the past 10 years, Cheon Yakseon has been focusing on the development of functional raw materials and cosmetics technologies using natural products and oriental medicine materials. In particular, over the past five years, it has continuously secured patents in various fields such as toothpaste, hydrogel collagen patches, whitening and wrinkle improvement functional cosmetics, and has established a technology management system centered on intellectual property that leads to R&D, patent rights, and product commercialization.
This award is not just meaningful in securing many patents, but is highly evaluated for securing market competitiveness by implementing the invention technology secured through research and development as a product used by actual consumers. In particular, it was evaluated that it contributed to improving the technological competitiveness of the domestic cosmetics industry by upgrading the entire process from functional material development to formulation design, quality stability, product design, and mass production technology with its own technology.
Cheon Yakseon's flagship brand Uimui Hydrogel Mask Pack and functional cosmetics for whitening and wrinkle improvement are products that represent these R&D achievements. Self-developed patented technology and functional materials were applied to the product, and it was developed by comprehensively considering raw material mixing technology, skin adhesion, formulation stability, feeling of use, and design completion. Taking this award as an opportunity, Cheon Yak-seon will participate in the World Women's Invention King Expo (KIWIE) in July 2026 to showcase functional cosmetics and R&D results with patented technology. At the event, it plans to introduce technology to domestic and foreign buyers, investors and invention experts and expand opportunities for global cooperation.
In addition, by strengthening technology verification and overseas networks based on KIWIE participation, we plan to promote entry into Southeast Asian and European markets in earnest from 2027. The strategy is to secure competitiveness as a patent-based functional cosmetics company in overseas markets and contribute to the global spread of K-beauty technology.
