“큰 호텔과 고급 레스토랑을 빌려 단 몇 시간의 행사를 위해 수천만 원을 사용하는 모습을 보며
마음 한편이 무거웠습니다.
과연 그 비용이 정말 사람을 위한 것일까 생각하게 됐습니다.”
이어 그는 이렇게 말했다.
“그 많은 비용으로 어르신들에게 따뜻한 식사를 대접하고, 장애우와 다문화가정을 돕고,
어려운 학생들에게 장학금을 전달한다면 훨씬 더 아름다운 일이 될 수 있지 않을까 생각했습니다.”
그 고민 끝에 탄생한 것이 바로 칭찬사랑나눔’ 칭찬합시다·축제’이다.
이 축제는 화려함보다 진심을 선택했다.
보여주기식 행사가 아닌, 가슴에서 우러나오는 칭찬과 사랑의 나눔을 가장 중요한 가치로 삼았다.
특히 행사 운영 방식도 남다르다. 값 비싼 장소 대신 마음을 나누는 공간을 택했고,
많은 이들이 자발적으로 힘을 모았다.
식당을 운영하는 칭찬주인공이 장소를 무상으로 제공하고
또 다른 후원자들은 상패와 현수막, 깃발, 기념품 등을 정성껏 후원하며 사랑을 함께 나눴다.
관계자는 이를 두고 “최소 경비로 최대 감동을 만드는 축제”라고 설명했다.
행사 규모 또한 150명 - 200명미만의 소규모로 진행된다.
이는 단순한 숫자의 문제가 아니다.
서로 얼굴을 마주보고 진심으로 이야기하며,
한 사람 한 사람의 삶을 따뜻하게 안아줄 수 있는 공동체의 크기를 지키기 위해서다.
칭찬사랑나눔’ 칭찬합시다·축제는 크게 두 가지 순서로 진행된다.
1부는 ‘칭찬주인공 시상식’이다.
우리 사회 곳곳에서 묵묵히 선행을 이어가는 숨은 주인공들을 발굴해 격려하고 응원한다.
화려한 성공보다 사람을 사랑하는 삶을 더 귀하게 여기자는 메시지가 담겨 있다.
2부는 ‘칭찬사랑나눔 행사’다.
어르신 공경, 장애우 섬김, 다문화가정 지원 등
다양한 나눔 활동을 통해 함께 식사하고 마음을 나누는 시간을 가진다.
행사에 참여한 한 어르신은 눈시울을 붉히며 말했다.
“누군가 나를 기억해주고 따뜻하게 밥 한 끼 대접해주는 것만으로도 큰 위로가 됩니다.”
또 다른 참석자는 “칭찬 한마디에 다시 살아갈 힘을 얻었다”고 전했다.
주최 측은 이 운동이 단순한 행사로 끝나지 않기를 바라고 있다.
밥상머리교육 회복, 세대공감, 공동체 회복은 물론 우울증 예방과 자살예방,
빈곤퇴치에도 작은 희망의 씨앗이 되기를 소망하고 있다.
무엇보다 이 자리는 돈이나 권력, 직위로 오는 자리가 아니다.
진심으로 사람을 사랑하고, 칭찬과 나눔의 가치를 함께하는 사람들이 서로를 응원하기 위해 모이는 자리다.
행사 관계자는 마지막으로 이렇게 전했다.
“칭찬은 사람의 마음을 살리고, 사랑은 세상을 변화시킵니다.
따뜻한 밥 한 끼와 진심 어린 격려가 누군가의 인생을 다시 일으켜 세울 수 있습니다.
우리는 앞으로도 전국 곳곳에 ‘칭찬사랑나눔 릴레이’를 이어가며 사람을 살리는 문화를 만들어가고 싶습니다.”
한편 칭찬사랑나눔’ 칭찬합시다·축제는 CCBS 칭찬위원연합회, 대한민국칭찬주인공이 공동 주관·주최하고 있으며, 총재 및 대표회장은 백종찬이 맡고 있다.
세상이 점점 차가워진다고 말하는 시대.
그러나 누군가는 오늘도 조용히 사람을 안아주고 있었다.

그리고 그 작은 진심이 또 다른 사람의 눈물을 닦아주며, 대한민국 곳곳에 따뜻한 희망의 불빛으로 번져가고 있다.

Beyond Showy Events, Toward a Festival That Saves People
A small concern that began around 2018 in a gathering in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, has now grown into a warm nationwide movement of love and sharing. It is the story of the “Praise & Sharing with Love – Let’s Praise Festival.”
This movement is not merely an event or entertainment program. It is a special cultural movement of praise that began with the desire to uplift people, save lives, and restore the warmth of community that is gradually disappearing in modern society.
The “Let’s Praise Festival – Sharing with Love” first began with the 1st Gangdong-gu Seoul edition in 2018, followed by events in Pyeongtaek, Siheung, Seocho-gu in Seoul, Seoul National University of Education, and many other regions across the nation. Today, it continues to spread through the form of the “Praise & Sharing Relay Challenge.”
An organizer shared that he had long been deeply troubled while observing many large-scale events in society.
“Watching enormous amounts of money being spent on luxury hotels and high-end restaurants for only a few hours of events made my heart feel heavy. I began to wonder whether those expenses were truly for people.”
He continued:
“I thought that if even a portion of that money were used to provide warm meals for the elderly, support people with disabilities and multicultural families, or offer scholarships to struggling students, it could become something far more beautiful.”
Out of those reflections, the “Praise & Sharing with Love – Let’s Praise Festival” was born.
This festival chose sincerity over extravagance. Rather than a show-focused event, it values heartfelt praise and genuine sharing above all else.
Its operation style is also unique. Instead of expensive venues, the organizers chose places where hearts could be shared together. Many people voluntarily joined hands to support the movement.
Restaurant owners recognized as “Praise Heroes” offered their venues free of charge, while other supporters willingly sponsored plaques, banners, flags, and commemorative gifts with sincerity and love.
The organizers describe it as:
“A festival that creates the greatest emotional impact with the smallest expenses.”
The event is intentionally kept small, with fewer than 150 participants. This is not merely about numbers. It is to preserve a community size where people can look into one another’s eyes, speak sincerely, and warmly embrace each person’s life.
The “Praise & Sharing with Love – Let’s Praise Festival” is largely divided into two parts.
Part 1 — “Praise Hero Awards Ceremony”
Hidden heroes throughout society who quietly continue acts of kindness are discovered, encouraged, and honored. The message is clear: a life that loves people is more valuable than outward success or fame.
Part 2 — “Praise & Sharing with Love”
This session includes various sharing activities such as honoring the elderly, serving people with disabilities, and supporting multicultural families. Participants share meals together and exchange heartfelt encouragement.
One elderly participant, with tears in their eyes, shared:
“Just being remembered by someone and being treated to a warm meal brings tremendoucomfort.”
Another participant said:
“One word of praise gave me the strength to live again.”
The organizers hope this movement will not end as a one-time event. They dream that it will help restore family-table education, bridge generational understanding, rebuild communities, and even become a small seed of hope in preventing depression, suicide, and poverty.
Above all, this gathering is not a place reached by money, power, or social status. It is a place where people who sincerely love others and believe in the values of praise and sharing come together to encourage one another.
The organizers concluded with these words:
“Praise heals the human heart, and love changes the world. A warm meal and sincere encouragement can lift someone up again and restore their life. We will continue spreading the ‘Praise & Sharing Relay’ across the nation to build a culture that saves people.”
Meanwhile, the “Praise & Sharing with Love – Let’s Praise Festival” is jointly organized and hosted by CCBS Praise Committee Federation and 대한민국칭찬주인공 (Korea Praise Heroes). The Chairman and Representative President is Baek Jong Chan.
In a time when many say the world is becoming colder, there are still people quietly embracing others with warmth today.
The “Praise & Sharing with Love – Let’s Praise Festival” looks first not at grand stages, but at people’s hearts.
And that small sincerity is wiping away someone’s tears and spreading across Korea as a warm light of hope.
